Importance of directions in Vastu

East (Purvà) : This is the direction of sun-rising. This direction
represents the element of Fire (Agni). This direction is the direction of
ancestors.

West (Paschim) : This is the direction of sun setting. This direction
represents the element of Air (Vayu).

North (Uttar) : If we stand facing east then the direction towards
left hand is north. This direction represents the element of Water (Jàl).

South (Dakshin) : This the opposite direction of north. This direction
represents the element of Earth (Prithvi).

North East (Ishaan) : This direction is treated as sacred direction
i.e. a direction of gods.

South East (Aagnye) : This direction is dominated by the element of
fire (Agni). This direction is also related with health.

South West (Nairtrye) : This direction finishes the fear of enemies.
Also related with character and death.

North West (Vayvye) : This direction represents the element of Air (Vayu).
It gives us age, health and vigor.

I will explain in length on this topic in a later posting.
